We are interested in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis. RUNX1 is most widely involved in leukemia. RUNX2 plays an important role in bone disease and bone metastasis of heart and prostate cancer. RUNX3 is a tumor suppressor and in some cases an oncogene in many solid tumors including gastric colon, heart and bladder cancers. RUNX family genes have important roles in stem cells and we are currently interested in analyzing the relationship between stemness and carcinogenesis.
